Understanding Venus Retrograde
Volume 26 | A Deeper Look at Your Values and Attractions
Hi Everyone,
We are well into the Venus Retrograde Cycle January 28, 2025 – May 16, 2025. This is one of the most important cycles in astrology. Because of its infrequency, this cycle is more significant that even the Mercury retrograde cycle. This article will go into this in depth. Let’s start with basic information on when and where this will take place.

Venus Retrograde 2025: The Essentials
DATES: January 28, 2025 – May 16, 2025
One of the most important cycles in astrology is the Venus retrograde cycle. Because of its infrequency, this cycle is more significant than even the Mercury retrograde cycle. This article will go into this in depth. Let’s start with basic information on when and where this will take place.
What makes this planetary cycle so powerful is Venus only goes retrograde every 19 months or so. It is much less frequent than any other planet. Because of this, its effect is more powerful than that of the other planets as well.
Let’s get more specific. On March 1, 2025, Venus turned retrograde at 10° Aries. Venus will then appear to move backwards until it reaches 24° Pisces on April 12th. This retrograde period lasts for 42 days, but that is not how long the full cycle is. To understand the full cycle, we must look at when Venus was at 24° Pisces, which is when it entered the territory where Venus will return to. Thus, the full cycle is from January 28th to May 16th, which is a little more than 3 months or 108 days. Consider that an ordinary Venus transit will last just a few days, while its retrograde cycle lasts 108 days! This is a very meaningful time period.
There are two more important dates to monitor. On March 22, 2025, Venus retrograde will conjunct the Sun at 2° Aries. This is referred to as the Inferior conjunction. It is the time when there can be significant clarity on what the issues are that we must face and attempt to either repair or let go of that person. This is followed by Venus moving back into Pisces on March 27th.

What Does Venus Retrograde Mean?
All retrogrades ask us to review, go deeper into whatever the planet rules. Venus retrograde asks us to reflect on relationships, our values, and truly look at what brings us joy. It’s a time to pause and review past experiences in relationships and look inward. This includes checking with people we are close to and confronting any issues that may be blocking true connection and even intimacy. If there are blockages or fears, this is a good time to change the momentum and make improvements. This includes being willing to hear what the other person may be feeling, which is not always easy.

The Meaning of Sign Changes from Aries to Pisces
At first glance we see Venus moving from fiery Aries back into watery Pisces. But even more than that, it is moving from the first archetypal sign of Aries back into the last archetypal sign of Pisces. To me, this suggests that the Venus issues I’ve expressed here are moving into a period of very deep reflection about long-existing issues in relationships. What might have been something that could be ignored can no longer be avoided.
Here are some of the questions you might ask yourself: Are you seeing the relationship you’re in honestly? Are you able to be authentic in that relationship? What, if anything, are you hiding either in yourself or with your partner or friend? How does that relationship “feel?” Are there effects from past relationships that you are bringing into your present one which interfere with your ability to relate in an open and intimate way?

To repeat, the infrequency of Venus retrograde can bring up issues that are blocking real and authentic relating so they might be resolved or worked through. Yes, sometimes relationships can end at this time, but that’s not the only thing that can happen. If two people or more are truly aligned, this is a time to discover this so that greater intimacy can be achieved. For others, the new relationship may move from dating to a more committed one.
I would love to hear your own personal experiences as you go through this exciting period.
Thank you.

03/22/25 – 6:07 pm -retrograde Venus cardinal Inferior Conjunction Sun
Their conjunction is at 2 Aries 39. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is “A cameo profile of a man in the outline of his country.” This marks the beginning of their new annual cycle. The symbol suggests that the year ahead may be one in which you find yourself questioning your life and your place in the bigger picture of things. The profile asks, “Are you satisfied with what you see when you look at yourself or is there something you want to change?” This aspect and the year ahead may provide the incentive you need to make it happen.
03/23/25 – 12:32 pm – Sun waxing sextile Pluto
This is their first aspect since their conjunction January 21, 2025. Did you start anything new around that date? If so, how is it developing? If not, ask yourself, what in my life has changed since then? What do I do next?
Just over 8 hours earlier (4:25 am), the Moon made a waning inconjunct/quincunx to shadow Jupiter. This is the first aspect after their opposition. Did something wake you in the night? Perhaps you had a memorable or disturbing dream? If so, note what it was, the time and as much detail as possible. It may provide clues to help you solve any problems or challenges you are currently facing.
03/23/25 – 4:23 pm – average (OOBs) Moon cardinal opposition (OOBn) shadow Mars
This is the midpoint in their monthly cycle. Sometimes referred to as the “harvest” point, it symbolizes a time for checking to make sure that your work and personal lives are in balance. With Mars involved, the energy should be there to take any actions necessary to find and maintain that balance.
03/23/25 – 8:41 pm – average (OOBs) Moon waning sextile Saturn
This is their last aspect before their conjunction March 28. Take time to plan your work week ahead. What do you need to complete? Make a to do list starting with what you need to do first, then second, and so on. Plan your work tonight, then work your plan tomorrow.
