Revolutionize Astrology with a Multidisciplinary Approach

Volume 6 | Cancer Season and Understanding Our World in a New Way

Today, let’s go straight into our astrological discussions. First, a few words on Cancer, since it’s a very watery time and you may all be feeling that in your own unique way. Then, we will talk about why it is important to try to integrate multiple ways of thinking into our own to keep the field of astrology rich and insightful rather than superficial.

Cancer Season

We are now in the season where the Sun is in the zodiac sign of Cancer. Not only that, but right now Mercury and Venus are also in the sign of the Crab.

Cancer is associated with the principle of nurturing, sensitivity, and a strong nesting instinct. However, it can also be quite moody, self-protective, and defensive. It may tend to cloister away in a safe place when the harsh realities of life begin to invade its world.

In order to deal with these fears, Cancer must work to develop the ability to expand beyond family or whatever way it usually feels safe so that life does not become insular and small.

This means that Cancer must learn to let go of its restrictive shell and live in a larger context of existence where those nurturing and sensitive qualities can be applied to the broader world.

Only then can Cancer make wonderful contributions to the world and enjoy doing so.

To embrace this astrological influence, strive to nurture your sensitive side while consciously stepping out of your comfort zones. This allows you to connect more meaningfully with the parts of your life that matter most and make a genuine impact.

A Multidisciplinary Approach to Astrology

Science, and more specifically quantum physics, has changed how we understand our world. In the early 20th century, quantum physics was initially met with skepticism.

By 1984, John Archibald Wheeler's "delayed-choice experiment" revealed that our reality is shaped by our observation, suggesting we are not just observers but participants and creators of reality. This aligns with metaphysical traditions and marks a shift in our understanding of consciousness.

In recent years, physicist Nima Arkani-Hamed stated that "Space-Time is doomed," meaning consciousness, not the material universe, is fundamental. This paradigm shift in physics emphasizes the need to reconsider how we understand reality and our role in it.

The Connection to Transpersonal Astrology

These new concepts also affect how astrology is practiced. It does this in two significant ways.

Firstly, we now know that we are not mere observers of our reality, but creators of it. This means we are not just fated, but are free to use our potential abilities as much as possible.

The second factor is that we must recognize that it is only our history or programming that is limiting us. To access our actual freedoms, we must confront our habitual patterns and make a conscious choice to act in a new, more creative way that is aligned with the potentials indicated by our natal chart.

For this reason, one of the primary characteristics of Transpersonal Astrology is to place great importance on the role that history plays in our lives, so we can use astrology to help us grow and evolve.

The Inspiration Behind My Astrology Book

I was a therapist long before I began to study astrology. This turns out to be an advantage for me as the way I learned astrology was to combine reading books about astrology and then applying these new concepts to the clients with whom I was working.

This was a great way to learn astrology. However, what I discovered was that astrologers and clients both had the expectation that astrology could make concrete predictions about what will or will not happen.

Not only is this approach impossible to do, but it will block the great value that astrology might give us if we use it in a different way. I wrote the book Astrology as a Spiritual Path: Birth of the New Human because I have seen from my interaction with many students and clients that astrology can be used to help us transform our very being and help us grow in many spiritual ways.

This is especially true in helping us become much more self-aware which is what we need in order to make the changes necessary if we are to grow and evolve.

The book is available now on Amazon: Astrology as a Spiritual Path: Birth of the New Human
